A piñata is a decorated container, often made of papier-mâché or other materials, which is filled with sweets, small toys, or other treats. The piñata is then suspended from a rope or string, and participants take turns trying to break it open with a stick, blindfolded, while the others try to guide them towards the piñata. Once the piñata is broken open, the contents spill out and the participants rush to grab as many treats as they can. Piñatas are commonly used in festive occasions, such as birthday parties, weddings, and other celebrations, especially in Mexico and other Latin American countries.
